Although the post is essentially concerned with hydrology, an interest in hydrogeology and an ability to work in both disciplines would be an advantage, as would an understanding of flood risk issues and hydroecology.
It is expected that you will have previous experience in consultancy, a regulatory role or local government and that you will be a confident communicator with knowledge of the water industry and associated environmental legislation. We are a growing team and this is a challenging role. It would suit a well-rounded ambitious individual with a strong technical background, ideally with experience of working with water companies and their regulators, collection and analysis of hydrological and environmental data, and a working knowledge of the Water Framework Directive, hydroecology and river restoration.
We expect that you will hold a Masters degree in hydrology or a related subject and be Chartered with a recognised organisation. Full UK/EU driving licence is required for this position. This position can be based in our Cambridge, Brighton or Reading office. The role may include work in other UK locations and there is also the potential for international work on either a short or long term basis.
You need to work independently as well as being part of a team, and be prepared to take a lead developing future business with clients. You will need to feel comfortable taking a leadership role and be enthusiastic about developing and guiding more junior staff. In return you can expect to receive excellent opportunities for career progression, a flexible benefits package and market leading salary.
