The Methodist Hospital Research Institute was formed in 2004 to rapidly and efficiently translate discoveries made in the laboratory and the clinic into new diagnostics, therapies and treatments.  The research institute was created to provide the infrastructure and support for these endeavors, and to house the technology and resources needed to make innovative breakthroughs in important areas of human disease.  A 540,000 square foot building dedicated to research, the research institute houses over 1,500 staff and trainees, 277 principal investigators and has more than 840 ongoing clinical trials.

 

Job Description

The Biomarker Research Program Center seeks candidates for Assistant and/or Associate Levels in the tenure track.  Rank will be commensurate with experience.  Responsibilities include conducting and establishing independent and successful research programs, supervising/mentoring laboratory personnel and postdoctoral fellows/students.  Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated outstanding qualifications in research.

The successful candidate will have experience in many aspects of biomarkers research.  Candidates working at any or all ranges of cancer, immunobiology, neurosciences, or cardiology will be considered.  Special attention will be given to investigators using state-of-the-art techniques with research programs that leverage and cellular insights to inform biomarker function in cancer models.  Research areas of particular interest include CTCs, ctDNA, exosomes and liquid biopsy.  Applicants are expected to have extramural funding and an internationally recognized track record of creative research productivity and excellence.
