Instructor, Biology (This Position May Be Staffed at the Assistant Professor Level)

The Biology Department at Brookdale Community College is seeking applicants for a full-time
tenure-track position in Biology to begin Fall 2012. The Biology Department offers courses including
General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Plants, Invertebrate Zoology, Vertebrate
Zoology, Marine Biology, Microbiology, and Ecology. The department welcomes candidates who are
committed to Brookdale’s mission of success and academic excellence and who desire to work in a
diverse and dynamic environment. In addition to excellent academic credentials and subject area
knowledge, candidates will bring to the college a love of teaching; an enthusiastic desire to assist
students; and an eagerness to contribute to the Brookdale Community College community. Candidates
will demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning, inside and outside of the classroom.
Master’s degree (or higher) in Biology or related field (e.g. Zoology, Botany).
Evidence of
well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
Commitment to
supporting an inclusive environment on campus. Evidence of respect for and understanding of people
with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
Commitment to continued professional growth and
departmental service.
Evidence of understanding about and commitment to the philosophy of a
comprehensive community college.
Experience in using technology in the classroom and in
collaborative learning.
Candidates invited for an in-person interview may be required to present
a teaching demonstration.
