Position: Scientific Associate, Project Leader (Computational Cancer Biology) Site: MaRS Centre, Toronto Department: Informatics & Bio-computing Reports To: Director Operations and Principal Investigator Salary: Commensurate with level of experience Hours: 35 Hrs/week Status: Permanent Full Time  The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking an experienced and independent researcher to act as Project Leader in Computational Cancer Biology, leading the formation of a new team in . This team will focus on integrating state-of-the-art next-generation genome-sequencing data with existing high-throughput and biological databases. While one focus of the team will be pancreatic cancer, there is substantial flexibility in this position to select the research and personnel directions of the team. Reporting to the Director, Operations, this position requires outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with previous grant-writing experience a major asset. Experience analyzing large-scale -omic datasets is critical, while previous work with cancer data is desirable. Please attach a copy of your CV and a one-page outline of your research interests to your application.  The responsibilities include: . Developing and maintaining an independent research program; . Publishing in peer reviewed journals; . Developing internal and external scientific collaborations; . Applying for external funding opportunities; . Leading various research projects.  QUALIFICATIONS . Candidates must hold a PhD in , or a related field; . Must be innovative in generating research ideas; . Must  have an interest in cancer research; . Candidates must be the first author of at least two peer reviewed publications in a high impact journal; . Familiarity with statistical methods; . Familiarity with computational modeling; . Strong programming skills.  OICR is an innovative new cancer research institute located in the MaRS Centre in the Discovery District in downtown Toronto. OICR is addressing significant challenges in cancer research with multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional teams. New discoveries to prevent, detect and treat cancer will be moved from the bench to practical applications in patients.The OICR team is growing quickly.
