The University of Tübingen Medical Center is offering at the earliest date possible a position

for a Post-Doc

in and Neurosensory Regeneration at the Hearing Research Center at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, group of Prof. Löwenheim. The position is within a network of research groups and companies working in the area of neurosensory stem and regenerative therapy of the inner ear. The position is funded for a limited period of time (1.5 years, prolongation is intended).

The aim of the position and the project is to pursue basic and applied research in the fields of stem cell research and neurosensory regeneration. The focus is on generating specific sensory and neuronal subtypes through in vitro differentiation of human stem cells using iPSC technology and primary cells. Of particular interest are innovative methods of linage guidance to generate sensory hair cells, supporting cells and neurons. These cellular models will be employed in hearing loss models and small molecule screens investigating toxicity, protection and regeneration. Applicants have a PhD degree or equivalent in natural or medical sciences and knowledge of stem cell biology and/or the mechanisms of neurosensory development and differentiation. Expertise in modern techniques, in fluorescence microscopy and in molecular and cell biology are essential. Previous experience with high content screening will be advantageous. Good communication skills, ability to work in a team, and proficiency in English are required.

We offer remuneration in accordance with TV-L (collective wage agreement for the Public Service of the German Federal States) in addition to all the customary benefits granted to employees working in Public Services.
