The successful candidate will develop a project focused on understanding how plants influence the composition and function of the root microbiome and the mechanisms of microbe-mediated plant growth promotion. As part of this project, the candidate will develop an artificial microbial community that reproducibly colonizes plant roots. Genetic screens and transcriptional profiling will be used to identify plant genes involved in the interaction between the plant and the microbiome.
