Tenure Track Position in Chemistry

INSTITUTIONAL SUMMARY: The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC), one of five campuses of the
University of Minnesota system is seeking candidates for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in
Chemistry. Located in northwest Minnesota, approximately 30 minutes from the Grand Forks
International Airport, UMC offers a competitive salary and an outstanding benefit package. UMC

POSITION:
9-month, full time tenure track position in Chemistry, in the Department of Math Science and
Technology starting August 13, 2012. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and
experience. An excellent fringe benefits package is offered.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary
teaching responsibilities include but not limited to introductory chemistry, chemical principles I
and II and their associated laboratories with the option of developing interdisciplinary courses
targeted at the undergraduate level. A successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong
commitment to teaching. She/he is expected to establish his/her own research program. Ability to
conduct interdisciplinary research particularly one that involves undergraduate students is an
evidence of credentialed candidate. The candidate will contribute to further develop our programs;
advise students; participate in recruitment and retention efforts; enhance student experience and
facilitate students’ access to professional schools/opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree in inorganic, physical or analytical chemistry. Final job offer contingent upon
complete background check and receipt of official transcripts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in teaching at the undergraduate level and research experience, good publishing
record, potential for developing a rigorous extramurally funded research program, and prior grant
writing experience.
