  • Ph.D. in Geography or related field with a Physical Geography and Geospatial focus.
  • At least two (2) years teaching experience at the University level.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach courses in GPS, spatial thinking, introductory and advanced GIS, and , as well as upper level courses in physical geography.
  • Experience developing and delivering online courses in GIS and physical geography.
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration.
  • Ability to work successfully with students of diverse backgrounds including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.


  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and experience necessary for continuing development of an interdisciplinary geospatial center.
  • Record of scholarly research using GIS.
  • Minimum of 3-5 peer reviewed publications.
  • Record of successful collaboration with business and community partners on geospatial projects.
  • Teach geoscience courses in GPS, spatial thinking, GIS, remote sensing, and other upper level physical geography courses.
  • Provide leadership for and/or work with the Center for Geospatial Studies Steering Committee.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarly research or creative achievement in GIS.
  • Continued program of professional development.
  • Service to students, university, and community.
