Mathematics, Assistant Professor and Instructor (Two Positions Available)

Position #1: Assistant Professor (tenure track) of mathematics. Nine-month appointment beginning
August 2012. A doctorate (or ABD) in mathematics or mathematics education is required.
Teaching responsibilities include the full range of courses throughout the undergraduate
mathematics curriculum. Continued scholarly activity and advising are expected, as well as service
to the university, the profession and the community.
Position #2: Instructor (non-tenure
track) of mathematics. Nine-month appointment beginning August 2012. A master’s in mathematics,
mathematics education or a closely related field (with at least 18 graduate hours of mathematics) is
required.
Teaching responsibilities would primarily be in general education and remedial
courses.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department
of Mathematics and Computer Science offers traditional BS degrees in both mathematics and computer
science. An additional BS track is offered leading to teacher licensure. The department has
approximately 80 active majors and twelve full time faculty.
Henderson State University is
a public institution offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs through the Matt Locke
Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the Teachers College, and the Graduate
School. The University also offers a professional nursing degree program, the only aviation degree
program in Arkansas, and pre-professional studies. A member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts
Colleges, Henderson is located on an historic and beautiful campus midway between Little Rock and
Texarkana on Interstate 30 and has an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students. Additional
