Systematic Reviewer / Research Fellow

We are seeking a relatively experienced and enthusiastic Systematic reviewer/Research Fellow (Grade 7) to be the lead reviewer on an NIHR HTA-funded evidence review to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of supported self-management for patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The post-holder will take a lead role in the co-ordination and delivery of the systematic review.
The first part of the project focuses on patients recently discharged from hospital following an acute exacerbation of their condition. The second part will focus on identifying the features and elements of self-management interventions which are most effective and may involve sub-group analysis, meta-regression and mixed-treatment comparison meta-analysis. The researcher appointed will work to the Principal investigators and with other members of the team including a second reviewer, information specialist, health economist, statistician and administrative assistant. They will also be part of a wider team of systematic reviewers. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the writing of publications for peer-reviewed journals.
The successful candidate will have a good first degree in a health-related field or relevant postgraduate experience in health-related field and a PhD in health-related field. He/she will have wide experience of leading and delivering systematic reviews of pharmaceutical and diagnostic technologies and/or public health interventions for national/international organisations; such the UK National Institute for Health Research, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence or the Cochrane Collaboration; experience of qualitative systematic reviews, quantitative meta-analysis and detailed knowledge or training in mixed-treatment comparison meta-analysis.
