GENERAL INFORMATION

The Biochemical Society [http://www.biochemistry.org/] supports and promotes various aspects of in the and Ireland. The Irish Area Section of the Biochemical Society (IASBS) [http://www.biochemistry.org/Conferences/ThemePanels/IrishAreaSection.aspx] is one of the thematic areas of the society and hosts its own annual meeting.

This year The Biochemical Society have endorsed the IASBS Meeting as an Independent Meeting entitled: “REGULATION OF METABOLISM IN CANCER AND IMMUNE CELLS”.

The meeting takes place in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College Dublin, on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th November 2012.

The IASBS meeting, is predominantly attended by principal investigators, postdoctoral researchers, postgraduates and indeed undergraduates from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It allows them to come together and share their research endeavours with each other and specialists in the field. All participants are encouraged to submit abstracts with view to displaying a poster. Several abstracts submitted by postdoctoral researchers and postgraduates researchers will be raised to 15min presentations. Postdoctoral abstracts should relate to the theme of the Meeting. Postgraduate abstracts can be on any biochemical topic and are not necessarily confined to the theme of the meeting.

Prizes will be given for the top two postgraduate posters and the top two postgraduate presentations.
